Kerry North T.D. Tom McEllistrim met with Denny workers in Tralee to discuss the job losses at the company.
Press Release by Tom McEllistrim at 15:30 13/12/2007
"I met with Timmy Spillane, Declan O Carroll and Joe Dillon at the weekend to hear their views on the job losses at Denny."
"The workers are understandably concerned about their redundancy packages."
"I listened to their views and assured them that I would take their concerns to my colleague Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheal Martin, T.D."
"I have already raised the need for practical supports for the Denny workers with the Minister, asking that the Shannon Development Agency and the IDA do all they can to assist in the re-employment of the workers and that FAS be brought in to assist with any necessary re-training or job seeking."
"I will continue to offer the Denny workers every practical support I can," concluded Deputy McEllistrim.

A redundancy package for the workers hasn't been finalised, so the 47 workers affected by the cuts were laid off with immediate effect last Thursday evening.
Looking at Tommy Mac's photo, it's surprising he could not keep Denny's Bacon factory going all by himself.
