All this recession stuff has me cryin into the old AurthurJ. Back when I was a lad and going to the Carlton was a BIG deal. There was Slattery's camera shop with all that stuff you could never afford. The smell of diesel from the buses. Smell of dirty raincoats. The shining steel everywhere. - just look at the doors. And two films!! plus trailers, plus ads! And fags.
The movie 'Step Down to Terror' is from 1958, so I assume this is the Carlton in 1959! God I could have been there as a snotty nosed kid. Totally unlike the charming person I now am.
I'm beginning to enjoy this recession. From this distance.
